Atlas treats sourcing, analysis, and presentation as one continuous discipline. A beautiful work product that cannot withstand examination has failed. So has rigorous research that its intended reader cannot use.

Authority before convenience
Primary and authoritative sources receive priority when available. Secondary sources are evaluated for expertise, method, proximity, currency, and independence.
Provenance before polish
A useful claim should remain traceable to its source. Citations, source ledgers, retrieval details, and document identifiers are built to fit the commission.
Contradiction before synthesis
Material disagreement is not smoothed away. Conflicting definitions, dates, methods, claims, and records are made visible before conclusions are drawn.
Uncertainty before overstatement
Findings distinguish what is established, what is reasonably inferred, what remains contested, and what the available record cannot answer.
Use before ornament
Presentation is part of the reasoning. Every visual, table, guide, and page should help the intended reader understand or act without creating false certainty.
Language scope
A site edition is not a professional credential.
Atlas maintains English, German, and French site editions. The service language and any required native, certified, or specialist review are confirmed for each commission. Atlas does not represent the site editions as certified translation.
Technology and AI
Tools may accelerate work. They do not confer authority.
Modern tools may support discovery, comparison, transcription, organization, or design. Material claims remain subject to source review and human judgment. The standard is not whether technology was used. The standard is whether the result is accurate, traceable, candid about uncertainty, and fit for purpose.
Client material
Handling follows the nature of the commission.
Scope, access, retention, sensitivity, and delivery requirements should be established before substantive work begins. Highly sensitive material should not be sent through ordinary email until an appropriate transfer method has been agreed.
Professional boundaries
Clarity about role is part of competent work.
Atlas provides research, information architecture, analysis support, and presentation. It does not replace licensed legal or clinical judgment. It does not obscure academic or creative authorship. Each commission must respect the responsibilities of the person who will rely upon, submit, publish, or present the work.
Before delivery
A final work product is reviewed as an argument, a source system, and an object.
Claims are checked against support. Citations are examined. Terms and dates are reconciled. Visuals are tested for meaning. The final form is considered from the perspective of the person who must actually use it.
